Where to apply with your UCAT score, 2027 entry
Each guide answers one question about choosing schools with your UCAT result. None of them predicts an interview: they show what schools publish, with the source and the date we read it.
- Medical schools that rank applicants on UCATThese schools check your grades first, then invite the highest UCAT scores until interview places run out.
- Medical schools that score UCAT alongside your gradesAt these schools UCAT becomes points or a percentage that is added to your academic score, at least for home applicants.
- Applying to medicine with a lower UCAT scoreNo school publishes a list for lower scores.
- UCAT cut-off and minimum scores for 2027 entryOnly a handful of schools publish a 2027 UCAT minimum.
- London medical and dental schools and UCATLondon schools use UCAT in quite different ways: UCL ranks on the total, Imperial shortlists against a threshold set each year, Queen Mary sets a decile floor and then weights, City St George's and St Mary's need 500 in every section, and King's and Brunel do not publish a weighting.
- Scottish medical and dental schools and UCATEdinburgh publishes a 1,850 minimum and scores UCAT with grades.
- UK medicine without UCATThree schools here do not use UCAT at all, Lancashire does not ask international applicants for it, and several graduate routes accept GAMSAT or MCAT instead.
- Graduate-entry medicine and dentistry that accept UCATThese are the graduate-entry courses on the UCAT Consortium's list for 2027 entry.
- Gateway and foundation-year medicine and dentistryThese longer routes are mostly for applicants who meet widening-participation criteria, which each course sets.
- How every UK dental school uses UCATMost dental schools check grades first and then rank on UCAT, or combine UCAT with academic scores.
