- Place value, negative numbers, written methods and money
- Primes, factors, multiples and prime factors in index form
- Powers, roots and the order of operations
- Fractions, decimals and percentages, including percentage change, profit and simple interest
- Ratio from a total or a difference, and direct proportion
- Rounding and estimating, time, speed and units
Core: algebra
- Writing and substituting into expressions
- Like terms, single brackets and factorising
- Equations with brackets, fractions and the unknown on both sides
- Formulae, sequences, coordinates and straight-line graphs from tables
Core: geometry and data
- Angle facts, parallel lines, polygon angles
- Symmetry, reflections, rotations, translations and enlargement
- Perimeter and area, circles and sectors, cuboids, nets
- Averages and range, charts, probability and listing outcomes
Additional adds
- Reverse percentages, significant figures, inverse proportion
- HCF and LCM by name, standard form with positive powers
- Simultaneous equations, simple quadratics, changing the subject
- The nth term, Pythagoras, prisms and cylinders, average speed over several stages
Not examined now
Bearings, scale drawings, compass constructions, drawing pie charts, means from frequency tables, gradients, solving inequalities, vectors, expanding two brackets and trigonometry are not in the current papers. Some school scholarship papers still use them.
