What the tables give you

  • Income tax bands and rates, the personal allowance, the residence day count table and the car, van and pension figures.
  • Capital allowances, corporation tax rates and limits, VAT limits and the late payment penalties.
  • Inheritance tax nil rate bands, rates and taper relief; capital gains tax rates and reliefs; national insurance; interest rates and error penalties.
  • Stamp duty land tax on non-residential property and stamp duty on shares, which ATX-UK adds to the Taxation tables.

What changed for these sessions

Domicile, deemed domicile and the remittance basis are no longer examined. For income tax and capital gains tax, a new resident may instead claim the foreign income and gains regime for the first four tax years of UK residence after at least ten years away. For inheritance tax, long-term UK residence replaces domicile.

How this course uses them

The same tables sit a click away on every page here, and every figure in the course is worked from them. Where a question needs a figure the tables do not give, the question states it.
