What makes it hard
Vocabulary: each unit has many precise terms, and a question often turns on one of them, such as physiological against arithmetic density.
Applying models: you must use the demographic transition, von Thunen, Burgess or Rostow on a place or data set you have not seen.
Reading stimuli: about a third of the multiple choice asks about a map, table, chart or image.
Writing: each free-response part earns its point only if it does what the task verb asks, so a correct idea that only identifies, when the part says explain, earns nothing.
What makes it easier
No calculations beyond simple arithmetic, and no essays: free-response answers are a few sentences per part.
The seven units are close to equal in weight, so steady work on each one pays.
The same skills run through every unit: concepts, spatial relationships, data, sources and scale.
