IB French B

French B: SL or HL?

Both levels sit the same components with the same weightings. What changes is how demanding they are.

Paper 1SL 250 to 400 words, HL 450 to 600 words
Paper 2Listening 25%, reading 25% at both levels
OralSL a visual stimulus, HL a literary extract

Paper 1

The HL tasks ask for more complex language and higher-order thinking, and allow more words for it.

Paper 2 reading

HL texts are longer and harder, often with a literary text. The question types are the same.

The individual oral

At SL the presentation is based on a visual stimulus; at HL on an extract from one of the two literary works studied. The oral is not part of this course.

Next step
