Life in the UK test

The dates people mix up

Pairs of dates that sit close together, and the difference between them.

1807 / 1833Slave trade abolished / slavery abolished
1603 / 1707 / 1801Shared king / Great Britain / union with Ireland
1918 / 1928Women over 30 vote / women vote at 21
1969Voting age lowered to 18

How to keep them apart

Say what changed, not just the year. The trade in slaves stopped first (1807); owning slaves ended later (1833). Scotland and England shared a king before they shared a parliament.
