The ten Biology units

Diversity in Living World; Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants; Cell Structure and Function; Plant Physiology; Human Physiology; Reproduction; Genetics and Evolution; Biology and Human Welfare; Biotechnology and Its Applications; Ecology and Environment. The syllabus follows the NCERT Class 11 and 12 Biology textbooks, so their account of each topic is the one to learn.

How the paper is set

  • 180 compulsory questions in 180 minutes: Physics 45, Chemistry 45 and Biology (Botany and Zoology) 90.
  • Four options per question, with one correct or most appropriate answer: +4 for a correct answer, minus 1 for an incorrect one, and 0 for a question left blank.
  • A pen-and-paper test in one shift, offered in 13 mediums; where a translation is unclear, the English version is final.

Where Biology questions come from

Human Physiology and Genetics and Evolution are the largest units on our practice papers, so they get the most hours in the planner. NTA publishes no weighting by unit; ours follows how much of the syllabus each unit covers.

Question 1
A trained athlete at rest has a heart rate of 50 beats per minute and a stroke volume of 100 mL. What are the cardiac output and the duration of one cardiac cycle?
Question 2
