If you need to retake
- CPT: you may retake after 30 days. You have three attempts, at least 30 days apart; after a third fail you wait one year. Each retake is the full exam price.
- PBT: you may take the exam five times under one eligibility route while you still meet it; after five unsuccessful attempts you need an alternate route. A new eligibility period starts no earlier than 30 days after your last exam, and each application has a fee.
Spending less
The cheapest exam is the one you pass the first time. Take the free practice test to find your weakest area, then study it before you book.
