What makes it hard
Application: most questions describe a person or a situation and ask which concept explains it, so near-synonyms have to be told apart.
Research methods: about a quarter of the multiple choice asks about a study's design, variables, sampling and ethics.
Data: tables, graphs and statistics appear in both sections.
Writing: the free-response questions score each part on its own, so vague answers lose points.
What makes it easier
The course has five units of equal weight and a published list of topics, so you can plan your time.
The two free-response question types are the same every year.
Practice on scenarios and studies raises scores faster than rereading definitions.

Jamal paid a large amount for a nonrefundable concert ticket. On the night of the show he has a fever and a storm is closing roads, but he drives to the concert anyway, saying he cannot let the ticket go to waste. Which concept best explains his decision?
Question 2
In a study like Bandura's, children are randomly assigned to watch an adult either hit and kick an inflatable doll or play quietly with blocks. Each child is then left alone in a room with the doll, and observers count the child's aggressive acts. What is the independent variable?

14.4% in May 2025 (48,018 students).
Is AP Psychology a good first AP?
It needs no prerequisite course and uses everyday scenarios, but it covers five broad units and tests research methods, data and written argument. Steady practice through the year matters more than any head start.
