Mostly understanding, not recall: 24 of the 40 questions are K2, and 8 are K3, where you apply a technique to a new case.
Questions
40 multiple choice, one point each
Pass mark
26 of 40 (65%)
Time
60 minutes, or 75 in a non-native language
Prerequisites
None
Question levels
8 K1, 24 K2, 8 K3
What makes it hard
Close terms: error, defect and failure; confirmation and regression testing; review types. The wrong option is often the neighbouring term.
Techniques: 5 K3 questions in chapter 4 (partitions, boundary values, decision tables, state transitions, ATDD) and 3 in chapter 5 (estimation, prioritisation, defect reports).
Select TWO questions score only when both answers are right.
Time: ISTQB expects about 1 minute for a K1 question, 1 to 2 for K2 and 3 for K3.
What makes it easier
No prerequisites, one point a question and 26 of 40 to pass. The K3 techniques reward method over memory.

Question 1FL-4.2.2 (K3) Boundary value analysis
An infusion pump accepts flow rates from 1 to 999 mL/h in whole numbers. 0 or below shows "no flow" and 1000 or above shows "over limit". What is the minimum number of test cases for 100% 2-value boundary value analysis coverage?
Question 2FL-1.3.1 (K2) The seven testing principles
A registration form has 12 fields that each accept many values. The team lead wants every combination tested before release. What is the BEST advice?
Question 3FL-2.2.3 (K2) Confirmation and regression testing
A defect causing wrong late fees in a library app has been fixed. The tester reruns the tests that failed because of it. What is this?
