Cognitive ability test

How employers use your result

Employers see the result as soon as you finish. They use it alongside interviews and other steps to decide who goes forward, and the publisher compares each result with the demands of the job.

What the result is used for

  • To find the candidates who best fit the role early in hiring.
  • To help decide who to make an offer to once there is a shortlist.
  • To shape onboarding and training for the people hired.

What it measures

The publisher describes cognitive ability as the ability to learn, adapt, solve problems and understand instructions. It says the questions measure the ability to apply logic and reason rather than knowledge.

What you get back

Employers are generally not required to share results with candidates. Organizations that use the publisher's assessment can send a candidate feedback report after the test.

Questions people ask

Do employers see my score straight away?

Yes. The publisher says employers have immediate access to results when you finish.

Will I get my results?

Not always. Employers are generally not required to share them, though some send a candidate feedback report.

Is the cognitive test the only thing employers look at?

No. In the publisher's current assessment it is one of three sections, with motivation and personality, and the publisher advises employers not to use tests in isolation.
