What is on the Praxis Elementary Education tests
The Praxis Elementary Education tests check the content knowledge a new elementary teacher needs in four subjects. ETS's new Fundamentals tests (8002 to 8005) replace Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects (5001), and some states still list 5001.
| Test | Questions and time | Older 5001 subtest |

| Reading and Language Arts (8002) | 80 questions, 100 minutes | 5002: 80 questions, 90 minutes |

What changed
The Fundamentals tests keep the same content categories as the 5001 subtests, with more questions. About 10 to 15% of questions are teaching tasks set in a classroom. There is no combined test: each subject is taken on its own, and ETS's Praxis Steps lets candidates take or retake one content category at a time.
How this course follows them
Each of our four full practice tests mirrors one Fundamentals test in its question count, time and content mix. The questions also fit the 5001 subtests, whose categories have the same names, though not their counts.

Questions people ask
Should I take the new tests or 5001?
Take the tests your state requires. ETS says the Fundamentals tests replace 5001, but some states still list 5001. The content categories have the same names, so this course prepares you for either.
Is there a calculator?
Yes, on Mathematics and Science: an on-screen scientific calculator.
What score do I need to pass?
Each state sets its own passing score and chooses which tests it requires. Check with your state's educator licensing office, your program, or the ETS Praxis website.
