Separate module scores run 1.0–9.0. October 2025 and January 2026 results put module medians around 4.0–4.5; around 7.0 is an upper-tail reference.

› Where these numbers come from
Two different numbers, from two different places. The percentile uses the score distribution UAT-UK published for Mathematics 1 in ESAT Explanation of Results, October 2025 and January 2026 (opens in a new tab). The displayed percentile is interpolated within those histogram bins, so it is an estimate from the published bars, not an official raw-mark conversion. That is why a 9.0 is the 98th in Mathematics 1 and the 97th in Biology.
The score is the modelled half. UAT-UK publishes no raw-mark table, grade boundary or pass mark, so the tool assumes a median raw mark of 15/27 for Mathematics 1 and a normal spread around it, then reads the percentile off the real distribution. Compare it with your own practice papers; do not read an offer into it.

How to read your number
Below 4.5
Below the roughly 4.0–4.5 module-median reference range in the published results. It describes the distribution, not a pass or fail result.
Around 4.5
Around the middle of the published cohort reference. Interpret it within its module, because the five module distributions are different.
Around or above 7.0
Around the upper-tail reference anchor or higher. This is useful statistical context, not a university cut-off or an offer prediction.
No universal pass mark, grade boundary or university cut-off is published. Universities make their own decisions using the application.
Official score or estimate?
Your UAT-UK result is an official scaled score. A raw-mark converter is different: UAT-UK does not publish one permanent table mapping marks out of 27 to the reported score, so any conversion from practice marks is modelled.

What does an ESAT score of 4.5 mean?
Around 4.5 is the published median reference anchor for the October 2025 cohort. It means roughly half the cohort scored below that point, not that 4.5 is a pass mark or university requirement.
Is 7.0 a good ESAT score?
Around 7.0 is the published upper-tail reference anchor for the reported scale. It is useful context, but it is not a universal cut-off, interview guarantee or offer prediction.
Can I convert a raw mark into an official ESAT score?
No official raw-mark table is published. A raw-mark converter can model an estimate, but the reported score depends on the paper and the equating model.
