KS2 scaled scores: what 100 means
Each KS2 test gives a scaled score from 80 to 120. A score of 100 or more meets the expected standard. The raw marks needed for 100 can change from year to year, so the conversion tables are published after the tests.
| Lowest scaled score | 80 |
|---|---|
| Highest scaled score | 120 |
| Expected standard | 100 or more |
| Conversion tables | Published after the tests, when results go to schools |

From raw marks to a scaled score
The raw score is the marks from every paper in a subject added together, so maths adds Papers 1, 2 and 3. A pupil must sit each paper in the subject to get a scaled score, and needs a minimum raw score before the lowest scaled score is awarded.
What our practice tells you
Our free test and timed checks give marks by section, never a scaled score: they show which part of the course to work on next.

Questions people ask
What is the expected standard?
A scaled score of 100 or more in a test. A score of 99 or less has not met it.
Why does the pass mark change?
Each year's tests are different, so the raw marks needed for 100 can change; the scaled score keeps results comparable over time.
