When did applications for 2027 entry open and close?
Both routes opened on 6 November 2025 and closed on 20 February 2026.
Key dates
Every date NSW published for Year 7 selective and Year 5 opportunity class entry in 2027, with where each stands today. The 2027 entry tests were sat in May 2026.

Test admission tickets were due in April 2026, about two weeks before the test. All dates are Sydney time.
For 2027 entry, applications opened in November and closed in February, and the tests were in May. That was the 2027 cycle, not a promise about 2028.

The Selective High School Placement Test was on 1 to 2 May 2026 and the Opportunity Class Placement Test on 8 to 9 May 2026. Each student sat on one allocated day. The make-up test for both was on 22 May 2026.
Until 5 June 2026 for both routes. That date on the 2027 key dates table replaces the general "one week after the test" advice elsewhere on the Department's site. You can list up to 3 selective schools or 4 OC schools.

Your child must live in NSW by the start of the school year and meet the enrolment conditions before an offer. From 2026 the selective test is sat in NSW only. Some visa holders need an individual check.
