The claim and the counterclaim
- A precise claim takes a side on the exact question and says why in a phrase.
- The counterclaim is the strongest opposing point in the sources. Name it fairly, then answer it with evidence or reasoning.
Evidence that does work
Quote or paraphrase a specific detail, name the source, and explain how it supports the claim. A detail with no explanation does not make the argument.
