Set-up guide

School licences and free trials, step by step

UniGenius for schoolsUpdated 7 October 2026

1. Open your dashboard

After you start a trial or pay, we email your dashboard link. The link is your login: bookmark it, and share it only with staff who should see pupils' progress. Lost it? Ask for it again at unigenius.co.uk/schools/dashboard.

2. Add your classes (optional)

Under Classes, add each class by name (for example 11X2). Each class gets its own join code and its own dashboard link for its teacher, who sees only that class. A trust adds schools the same way, and each school's lead gets a link for their school.

3. Import a class list (optional)

  • Under Class list, upload a spreadsheet saved as CSV, or paste straight from it: one pupil a line with name, email and, if you use classes, the class.
  • A header line is optional. First name and Surname columns are joined. Up to 2,000 pupils at a time.
  • When a pupil joins with that email, they land in their class under the name you gave. Pupils not on a list can still join with the code.

4. Share the join code

Give pupils the join link or the eight-character code (on the board, in an email or on your class page). Each pupil signs in with their own email or Google, enters the code, and every course in the licence opens. If a code gets shared too widely, make a new one from the dashboard; pupils who already joined keep their place.

5. Set work

Under Set work, choose a course and either a topic's lessons or a number of questions, with an optional due date, for everyone or for one class. Pupils see it on their class page with a link straight to it, and your dashboard shows how many have finished.

6. Follow progress

  • The Pupils table shows each pupil's last activity, lessons, questions, accuracy and mocks. Download CSV exports it for your records.
  • Remove a pupil to end their access at once and free their place.

Trials, buying and refunds

  • A free trial covers up to 35 pupils for 30 days on a school email address. Buy from the trial dashboard and its pupils, classes, work and code move to the paid licence.
  • Payment is by card. Stripe emails a paid invoice with your school's name and PO number.
  • For 30 days after paying, refund the whole licence from your dashboard, for any reason.
