UAT-UK does not score the Writing Task.
Your response still goes to the institutions that require TARA, and all three modules are compulsory.
What UAT-UK actually says
The Writing Task module is unscored. Your answers for this module will be passed onto the institutions to which you are applying if they require the test.
The qualifier is doing the work. UAT-UK’s format page puts it at course level: “a copy of your response is sent to the universities where you applied (for all courses that require the TARA)”. It also publishes no grade boundaries and no pass mark, for this module or for the two that carry a score.

750 words
One essay style question, selected from a choice of three. Word limit of 750 words. The limit is a ceiling. A finished argument well short of it beats one cut off mid-sentence.
The 40 minutes
Six minutes planning, twenty-eight minutes writing, six minutes checking. Planning means writing the claim as a single sentence and the three reasons as three fragments, nothing more. If you cannot write the claim in one sentence, you have picked the wrong prompt and you still have time to change. The last six minutes are for cutting: your first paragraph is almost always two sentences longer than it needs to be, and every sentence that only announces what the next one will say can go.
Governments should fund the arts only where the public would not pay for them directly. Discuss.
The model answer to it in the bank runs to 629 words, comfortably inside 750, with a note on each paragraph explaining what it is doing.
The two modules that carry a score

Can I skip the TARA Writing Task?
No. UAT-UK says all modules are compulsory for all candidates. It scores Critical Thinking and Problem Solving on a scale from 1 to 9 and does not score the Writing Task.
