Questions people ask

Does an assumption have to be true?

No. You judge whether the speaker takes it for granted, not whether it is true.

"If" sets a condition. The speaker does not assume the condition will be met.

How we work this out

What it does

Five statements, four proposed assumptions each. Deny each one and see if the statement survives.

Five original statements, each with four proposed assumptions.

Method

  1. An assumption is made when the statement takes it for granted: deny it and the statement falls apart.
  2. Every key was solved again, blind, by an independent solver.
