Which universities require the LNAT?
Nine in the UK. Each sets its own deadline, and Oxford and Cambridge close booking first, on 15 September 2026.
Your deadline depends on where you apply.
Bristol, Cambridge, Durham, Glasgow, King's College London, LSE, Oxford, SOAS and UCL list the LNAT against their law courses. Oxford and Cambridge close booking on 15 September 2026, four months before any other university on the list.

Oxford's Foundation Year in Law sits by 13 January 2027 instead. Testing runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 July 2027.
What this changes for you
Oxford and Cambridge close booking on 15 September
Registration opened on 1 August 2026 and the booking window for both closes on 15 September. You sit by 15 October, the same day your UCAS form is due. Every other university on the list runs to December or January.

Two sections, two and a quarter hours
Section A is 42 multiple-choice questions on 12 argumentative passages, with 95 minutes for all of them. Section B gives you 40 minutes to write one essay from a choice of three. Ten questions in our Section A bank are free. All 83 cost £25 once, refundable for 30 days.
Your universities see your score before you do
LNAT releases the first batch of scores to them on 21 October, covering tests sat from 1 September to 20 October. After that date Pearson VUE makes yours available within 24 hours of the test. LNAT says how each university uses the essay varies by its own admissions policy.

Does Cambridge require the LNAT?
Yes, for Law (M100). Cambridge's own admissions test page names the National Test for Law and says you must register in advance. Its deadline matches Oxford's.
How many universities use the LNAT?
Nine in the UK, listed in the table above. Three outside the UK also use it: O.P. Jindal Global University, Singapore University of Social Sciences and IEU.
What is the LNAT deadline for 2027 entry?
It depends where you apply. Oxford and Cambridge applicants book between 1 August and 15 September 2026 and sit by 15 October 2026. Bristol and Durham applicants book, apply and sit by 13 January 2027. Every other university takes bookings until 20 January 2027. King's, LSE and UCL applicants sit by 31 December 2026, and Glasgow and SOAS applicants by 25 January 2027.

LNAT names nine UK universities and the course codes each lists against the test. Your course page is the authority, not this table: requirements change between cycles, so confirm on the course page you are applying to before you book anything.
