ACCUPLACER

Is there an ACCUPLACER passing score?

No. College Board scores each test from 200 to 300 and leaves placement to colleges. Each college sets the score that places you into its college-level courses.

How placement works

College Board says each institution should set its own course placement scores, and that it does not recommend or mandate any. Colleges match score ranges to courses: below one score you start in a support course, above it you start at college level.

Several colleges use more than your score. Minnesota State and Western Kentucky University also count your high school GPA, and Minnesota State accepts lower scores with a GPA of 2.5 for reading or 2.7 for math.

What the scores mean

College Board groups scores in seven bands: 200 to 220, 221 to 230, 231 to 240, 241 to 250, 251 to 260, 261 to 270 and 271 to 300. Among the colleges above, college level starts between 240 and 276 depending on the test and the course.
