What percentage of students get an A* in A-level Maths?
In June 2026, 13.3% of AQA's Maths candidates, 17.1% of Pearson Edexcel's UK candidates and 25.1% of OCR A's got A*. Each board examines a different group, so the shares cannot be combined into one national figure here.
Can I find my exact rank?
No. Boards publish how many candidates got each grade, not each mark. The tool gives the band those figures prove and a rough straight-line figure inside it.
Why no percentile for Further Maths or AQA Physics?
Their boards publish one set of grade shares for all optional routes together, but each route has its own boundaries, so a mark on your route cannot be matched to those shares.
Does a percentile matter for university offers?
Universities make offers on grades, not percentiles, so this is for context only.

How we work this out
What it does
Place an A-level total among that June's candidates, using the board's own grade shares.
Total marks on the A-level specifications in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology whose board publishes grade shares for that June: AQA and OCR 2019 and 2022 to 2026 (their whole cohort, all ages) and Pearson Edexcel 2026 (UK candidates only).
Method
- At each grade boundary, the share of candidates below it is 100 minus the published share at that grade or higher.
- Your mark sits between two boundaries, so its percentile lies between their two shares: that band is what the published figures prove.
- Inside the band, a straight line gives a single rough figure, which assumes marks are spread evenly within the grade. Example: 185 out of 260 on AQA Biology in June 2026 lies between the 73.3rd and 91.1st percentiles, about the 81st on a straight line, among 39,361 candidates.
- The one percentile shown is that straight-line figure, so two marks inside the same grade get different percentiles.
