AP Calculus grader: points for your work
Type or photograph your working for one question. See which steps earn points, where your first error is, and one next step to try. Your first one is free, with no sign-up.
How it marks your working
- Give the question and every line of your working, typed or as a photo. A photo is read back to you to check before it is marked.
- Each scoring point is matched to the line of yours that earns it, quoted word for word. A step is never credited for something you did not write.
- You see the first line that goes wrong and what is wrong with it, without the corrected value.
- You get one next step to try. You never get the answer or a worked solution.
What a marked answer looks like
Question: Find the absolute maximum value of f(x) = x3 − 6x2 + 9x + 1 on [0, 4]. Justify your answer.
f'(x) = 3x^2 - 12x + 9 3(x - 1)(x - 3) = 0, x = 1, 3 f(1) = 5, f(3) = 1 max is 5 at x = 1

max is 5 at x = 1
This conclusion comes before every candidate on the closed interval has been checked.
Next step: Which other x-values must an absolute maximum on a closed interval be checked at?

Questions
Does it give me the answer?
No. It shows which points your working earns, the first line that goes wrong and one next step to try. You fix the step yourself, which is what makes the next question go better.
Can I photograph my working?
Yes. Take a photo of one answer, flat and in good light. We read it line by line and show you what we read before anything is marked. If any line could be read two ways, we show how sure we are and ask you to take it again rather than guess.
How are the points decided?
The way an AP reader scores a free-response answer: each point for the setup, the work or the conclusion it names, and an answer point only with the work that supports it. A question from the course is scored against its own scoring guide.
How many can I mark free?
One a day with no sign-up, and one more when you add your email. Mark My Work marks up to 25 answers a day for 12 months and saves each one to your account.
What kinds of question can it mark?
Any AP Calculus question with written working: from the course, a past paper, a textbook or your homework. One question, or one part of a question, at a time.
