The rules worth knowing cold

  • Undo an equation in reverse order, and flip an inequality when you divide by a negative
  • Multiply powers: add exponents. Divide: subtract. Power of a power: multiply
  • Triangle angles add to 180°; a² + b² = c² for a right triangle
  • Circle area πr², circumference 2πr

Where marks go

  • Using the diameter as the radius
  • Forgetting that a negative times a negative is positive
  • Adding exponents when dividing

Questions people ask

Is Math Knowledge harder than Arithmetic Reasoning?

They test different things. Math Knowledge asks for rules directly; Arithmetic Reasoning hides simpler math inside a story.

Are formulas given on the test?

Plan to know the common formulas yourself: area, circumference, the Pythagorean theorem and the angle sums.
