What the numbers show
- The number of candidates more than doubled from 2021 to 2025.
- First-time pass rates have stayed between 73% and 77% since 2022.
- Retakes pass at about half the first-time rate, so preparing well for the first attempt matters most.
How the result is decided
The exam is pass or fail. The BACB sets the passing score with the modified Angoff method: a panel of certified subject matter experts judges what an entry-level behavior technician should know, and the board approves it. All questions count equally, and the result is based on your overall performance, not on each domain.
