CNA exam

How much does the CNA exam cost?

Each state sets its own fee. In Pennsylvania the written and skills exams cost $135 together; in Georgia they cost $130. A nursing home that employs you must pay these fees under federal law.

Pennsylvania, both parts$135
Pennsylvania retake$50 written or oral, $85 skills
Georgia, both parts$130
Georgia, one part$35 written, oral or Spanish; $95 skills

Who pays

The Pennsylvania and Georgia handbooks both say nursing homes must pay the exam fees for their nurse aide employees, including retakes. Pennsylvania's handbook adds that a nurse aide hired, or offered a job, within 12 months of finishing a program is repaid training and testing costs in two halves as hours are worked.

Refunds and payment

Fees are not refundable in Pennsylvania or California. You pay through your Credentia account by card or with a voucher bought by a training program or sponsor.

Other states

California's handbook lists fees in a table we could not read as text, so we do not give a figure. Check your own state's handbook on credentia.com before you apply.
