Plan your dates

How many times have you taken the exam without passing?

The rules the planner uses

  • You may apply no sooner than 180 days before your expected program completion date.
  • The earliest you can test is 7 days after completing your program, once your program director confirms it.
  • Each application gives you 180 days to test (shorter if your six-year eligibility ends sooner).
  • You may take the exam once in any 90-day period or 3 times in a calendar year, whichever is fewer.
  • Eligibility ends after 6 attempts or 6 years from completing your program, whichever comes first. This applies to graduates of accredited programs from 1 January 2003 who were never certified.

If eligibility runs out

NCCPA's policy is that the only way to become eligible again is to complete a new, unabridged ARC-PA accredited PA program.
