Real estate exam

Real estate exam passing scores by state

Every state sets its own line. Texas and California pass you at 70%, Florida at 75 out of 100, and New York reports only pass or fail.

Texas56 of 80 national and 28 of 40 state, 240 minutes
Florida75 of 100, 3 1/2 hours
California70% of 150 (105 right), 3 hours
New YorkPass or fail, 1 1/2 hours

How the line works

Texas reports a raw score: the number right. Each portion is passed on its own, so a strong national score cannot rescue a weak state score.

Florida grades out of 100 points, every question equal. California counts the share right and tells you your score only if you fail.

Aim above the line

  • Unscored pretest questions are mixed in on the Texas exam: answer every question.
  • None of these exams takes marks off for a wrong answer, so never leave one blank.
  • Practice until you clear the line with room to spare on full-length tests.
