Pass marks
Functional Skills Maths Level 2 pass mark
Each board sets its pass mark for each version of the paper, so it moves a mark or two. These are the figures the boards publish now.
| Board | Total marks | Pass mark |
|---|---|---|
| Pearson Edexcel | 64 | About 59%: around 38 marks |
| City & Guilds | 60 | 30 or 31 marks |
| NCFE | 60 | 58% to 60%: around 35 or 36 marks |
| Open Awards | 60 | Set around 36 marks |
| Highfield | Set per paper | Set for each paper |
Check your mock score
Pearson Edexcel pass mark: about 59%, around 38 of 64.
How the pass mark works
Functional Skills is pass or fail. Your marks from the non-calculator and calculator sections are added together: there is no separate pass for each section.
Boards check each new paper and set its pass mark so a pass means the same standard every time. A harder paper gets a slightly lower pass mark.
What to aim for
Aim for 75%: 48 of 64 on a Pearson mock, or 45 of 60 for the other boards. Two scores like that on different mocks, with no part of the course much weaker than the rest, is a safe sign you are ready.
