Questions GRE test takers ask
Is this the current GRE?
Yes. Everything follows the shorter GRE General Test that ETS introduced on 22 September 2023: one Analyze an Issue essay, then two Verbal and two Quant sections, about 1 hour 58 minutes in all. There is no Analyze an Argument essay and no unscored section.
Are these official GRE questions?
No. Every question is written by us in the test's formats and difficulty, and each one is solved independently by a second solver before it ships. Use ETS's free POWERPREP tests as well; ours give you more full-length practice in the same format.
How are the practice tests scored?
As on the test, your second Verbal and Quant sections are easier or harder depending on how the first went. Your answers across both sections give an ability estimate, placed on the 130 to 170 scale with ETS's published percentiles. It is an estimate from our questions, not an official score.
How is the essay marked?
Your Issue essay is read against the task's rubric: a clear position, two developed reasons, where the claim might not hold, and an organised conclusion. You see which points it meets and the one thing to fix next. We do not give an official 0 to 6 score.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. The free diagnostic needs no account. The course tour, the first Quant, Verbal and writing lessons, two practice topics, practice test 1 and one essay read are free too.
