Verbal and Quant are each scored 130 to 170 in one-point steps; Analytical Writing is scored 0 to 6 in half points. Many programmes quote Verbal and Quant together, from 260 to 340.

The same score means different things on the two measures: a 160 beats about 82% of test takers in Verbal but about 50% in Quant, because Quant scores run higher. Average scores were about 151 in Verbal and 158 in Quant.

How the score is built

Your score on each measure depends on how many questions you answer correctly across both sections. Because the second section is easier or harder depending on the first, a strong first section opens the harder second section and with it the top of the scale. Every question in a section counts the same, and a blank scores nothing, so answer every question.
