How hard is the LNAT?
Hard mostly on time: 42 Section A questions in 95 minutes is about 2 minutes 15 seconds each, passage reading included.
Section B adds one essay in 40 minutes, and the format does not prescribe prior legal study.

What makes it difficult?
The official format gives the constraints. Margin's preparation view is that the challenge comes from three things:
- Reading under pressure. You must track an argument across several passages.
- Look-alike answers. Several options can sound plausible until you test them against the passage.
- Consistency. One rushed question is fine; 42 rushed decisions are not.
What it does not test The format does not prescribe prior legal study or memorised cases. The LNAT Consortium describes the test as assessing aptitude for skills used in law.
How should you use the time?
Section A averages about 2 minutes 15 seconds per question, but passages take part of that budget. Practise moving on from a slow question, then return only when you have a reason to change your answer.
