Questions people ask

What is the SQE1 pass rate?

For candidates who sat both FLKs, 42% passed in July 2026 (47% at a first attempt), 53% in January 2026, 41% in July 2025 and 56% in January 2025. Since November 2021 the rate has ranged from 41% to 56%.

What is the SQE2 pass rate?

83% passed in April 2026 and 80% in January 2026. In 2025 the four sittings were 75%, 82%, 76% and 78%. SQE2 rates have run between 64% and 83% since 2022.

Is there a July 2026 SQE1 percentile?

No. The SRA published the July 2026 report on 29 September 2026: 50% passed FLK1 (median 300) and 50% passed FLK2 (median 297). Its score distributions are charts without counts, so no percentile can be worked out from them.

What was the median SQE1 score in January 2026?

319 in FLK1 (mean 311.2) and 312 in FLK2 (mean 304.3). 62% passed FLK1 and 57% passed FLK2.

Is a higher percentile needed to pass?

No. The pass mark is 300 whatever the percentile. In July 2025 the FLK1 median was exactly 300; in January 2026 it was 319, so the same score can sit at quite different percentiles.

How we work this out

What it does

Enter a scaled score to see what share of that sitting's candidates scored the same or lower, from the SRA's own published counts.

Scaled scores (0 to 500) for SQE1 FLK1 and FLK2 from January 2024 to January 2026, and SQE2 from January 2025 to April 2026: 16 sittings with a published score distribution. The July 2026 SQE1 report gives pass rates and medians but no score-band counts, so it has no percentile.

Method

  1. Each SRA statistical report prints how many candidates scored in each band of ten marks (0 to 10, 11 to 20 and so on up to 500).
  2. We add up everyone in the bands below your score. Inside your own band we assume candidates are spread evenly and add the matching share. That total divided by the graded candidates is your percentile.
  3. Example: 350 in January 2026 FLK1 is the top of the 341 to 350 band, so the published counts give it exactly: 68.9% of 8,272 graded candidates scored 350 or less.
  4. We use the SRA's counts as printed, not a normal curve. Checked against the SRA's own reported means and pass rates, the band counts reproduce the means to within 0.25 of a mark on average, while a normal curve built from the mean and spread misses the pass rates by 4.8 points on average.
