ATI TEAS

The TEAS Science section

Science is the third section and the largest: 50 questions in 60 minutes, and human anatomy and physiology is its biggest part.

Questions50, of which 44 are scored
Time60 minutes, about 72 seconds a question
Scored questions by topicAnatomy and physiology 18, biology 9, chemistry 8, scientific reasoning 9
Before itAn optional 10-minute break after Mathematics

What the questions ask

  • Anatomy and physiology: body terms and planes, and the normal structure and function of the heart, lungs, digestive, urinary, nervous, endocrine, immune, muscular, skeletal, skin and reproductive systems.
  • Biology: cells and organelles, DNA, RNA and proteins, inheritance and Punnett squares, large molecules and microorganisms.
  • Chemistry: atoms and the periodic table, bonds, states of matter, reactions, solutions, acids and bases.
  • Scientific reasoning: variables, controls, tools and units, and which conclusions the evidence supports.

How to win marks

Anatomy questions reward exact words: arteries carry blood away from the heart, the left ventricle pumps to the body, the small intestine absorbs most nutrients. Learn structure and job together, then trace a path in order.

Questions people ask

What is the hardest part of TEAS Science?

Anatomy and physiology carries the most scored questions, 18 of 44, and covers many systems, so it rewards the most study time.

Is chemistry on the TEAS?

Yes, 8 scored questions: atomic structure, the periodic table, bonds, changes of state, reactions, solutions and pH.
