An investor buys one XYZ 50 call for a premium of 3. What is the breakeven price of XYZ?
The SIE passing score
You pass the SIE with a scaled score of 70. FINRA equates scores across exam forms, so 70 is not simply 70% of the questions right.
| Questions | 75 scored plus 5 unscored, four choices each |
|---|---|
| Time | 1 hour 45 minutes |
| Passing score | 70, on FINRA's scaled score |
| Fee | $100 |
Why the score is scaled
Candidates see different sets of questions. FINRA adjusts for small differences in difficulty between them, so every candidate is held to the same standard.
How to tell you are ready
- Sit full 75-question practice exams under the real clock.
- Check your share right in each section, not only overall.
- Fix the section that costs you most, starting with products and their risks, which is 44% of the exam.

Questions people ask
Is the SIE passing score 70%?
It is 70 on FINRA's scaled score. Because forms are equated, it does not map exactly to 70% of questions right.
Do your practice exams give a scaled score?
No. Ours report the questions you got right in each section. Only FINRA's exam gives a scaled score.
What if I do not pass?
You can retake the SIE after 30 calendar days; after three failures in a row within two years, the wait is 180 days. FINRA has approved cutting these to 15 and 60 days and will announce when that starts.
