TSIA2 cost, registration and retakes
There is no single statewide price. The TSIA2 is given by every Texas public college and university, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board tells students to ask their college's testing center about its schedule, registration and cost.
| Who sets the fee | The college, university or school district that gives the test |
|---|---|
| Before you test | A required pre-assessment activity (PAA) |
| Retakes | Allowed at any time; the testing center explains how |
| Scores last | Up to five years from the test date |
How to register
- Check whether you are exempt: college-ready scores on the SAT, ACT or the STAAR English III or Algebra II end-of-course tests, or a completed College Preparatory Course, among other ways.
- Contact the admissions adviser or testing center at the college you plan to attend, or your high school counselor, for the testing schedule, registration and cost.
- Complete the pre-assessment activity (PAA). It covers why the test matters, what is on it, sample questions and your course options, and the testing center records that you did it.
On test day
Results usually appear right after you finish. You may use save and finish later to stop at certain points and return within 14 calendar days, except during the essay, which you start and finish in one session.
Retakes
You may retake a TSIA2 test at any time. Ask your testing center about retesting and any fee. After your first ELAR sitting, you retake only the part you did not pass: the multiple-choice test or the essay.
