CELPIP Listening, part by part
Six parts, 38 questions. You hear each recording once, and the questions come after it.
| Questions | 38 in six parts |
|---|---|
| Time | 46 to 55 minutes |
| Hearing | Each recording once |
| Answer format | Four options per question |
The habit for each part
- Problem Solving: plans change; the last decision counts.
- Daily Life Conversation: polite people rarely say no directly. 'I'd love to, but' is a no.
- Listening for Information: steps, conditions and exceptions. 'Except' changes the rule.
- News Item: the first sentence carries the main point; 'says' marks a view, not a fact.
- Discussion: keep a column for each speaker and note who changes their mind.
- Viewpoints: both sides come first; the speaker's own view usually comes last.
Notes
You can take notes. Write the decision, not every word: names, numbers, changes of plan, and who agreed.

Questions people ask
Can you replay CELPIP Listening recordings?
No. Each recording plays once, so practise with recordings you hear once too.
Are the questions shown before the recording?
No. You hear the recording first, then answer. That is why tracking changes as you listen matters.
