CELPIP Speaking: the eight tasks
Eight tasks recorded by the computer. Each gives you time to prepare, then a fixed time to speak.
| Task 1, Giving Advice | 30 seconds to prepare, 90 to speak |
|---|---|
| Task 2, Personal Experience | 30 and 60 |
| Task 3, Describing a Scene | 30 and 60 |
| Task 4, Making Predictions | 30 and 60 |
| Task 5, Comparing and Persuading | 60 to choose, 60 to prepare, 60 to speak |
| Task 6, Difficult Situation | 60 and 60 |
| Task 7, Expressing Opinions | 30 and 90 |
| Task 8, Unusual Situation | 30 and 60 |
One shape for every task
Speak to the person in the task, say how many points you have, give each point with a reason or example, and close. Silence still counts down, so plan three points while you prepare.
Pictures
Tasks 3, 4 and 8 use a picture. Describe the whole scene first, then the main action, then details. For predictions, use 'is going to' and 'will probably' and say what in the picture makes you think so.

Questions people ask
What if I finish speaking before the time ends?
The recording continues. Add another detail or example rather than stopping early.
Is CELPIP Speaking marked by a computer?
