Questions people ask

What is a strength-based interview?

Questions about what you enjoy, do well and do often, rather than past examples. They are quick and often follow each other fast.

How many Civil Service strengths are there?

36. Each job advert names the few it will assess. Strengths are not tied to grade.

Should I prepare answers?

GOV.UK advises against rehearsing, because interviewers want your first response. Prepare by thinking about what you are good at, what energises you and how you like to work.

Are there right or wrong answers?

GOV.UK says not. Honest answers that show the strength in real, recent examples work best.
